Jobs Guarantee Scheme.

Government funding to create new job placements for young people.
Foodchain is partnering with employers across the country to help young people who are currently out of work, to start or continue their careers through the Government’s newly launched Jobs Guarantee Scheme.
The initiative enables businesses to offer fully funded 6-month job placements for 18-21 year olds, with the Government covering 100% of wage costs for up to 25 hours per week.

Jobs Guarantee Scheme Details.

What Is Jobs Guarantee Scheme?

Nearly a million young people are not in education, employment or training - locking them out of meaningful work, denying employers the workforce of the future and holding back economic growth.

The Jobs Guarantee Scheme is a government-funded programme designed to help unemployed young people into work by offering a fully subsidised, 6-month paid job.

For eligible 18–21 year olds (with some flexibility up to 24), the government's aim is to give young people meaningful work experience, skills and confidence, while enabling employers to create low-risk, fully funded roles that can lead to sustained employment.

Job Placement Requirements.

The Jobs Guarantee roles created must be:

  • A real, meaningful job – the placement must be equivalent to a normal job in your business (not a “made up” role) and the young person must be treated like any other employee.

  • A minimum of 25 hours per week, for 6 months

  • Paid at least the National Minimum Wage for their age group via your company payroll in order to be eligible for funding.

  • Should not require participants to undertake extensive training before they begin the job placement.

  • Ability to support the young person – you need capacity to provide supervision/structure and engage with Foodchain to resolve any issues during the placement.

Funding Available.

Funding available for each job will cover:

  • 100% of National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, for a total of 6 months.

  • The associated employer National Insurance contributions

  • Employer minimum Pension enrolment contributions.

  • Employer onboarding costs – up to £250 per participant - eg. uniform or PPE, basic IT equipment or software licences needed for the role, role-specific tools or equipment.

  • Administration funding – up to £400 per participant to cover our cost to deliver the following: job design and advertising, candidate screening and initial interviews, compliance, reporting and wage reimbursement processing, ongoing employer / employee / DWP liaison and issue resolution. 👉 This means no additional recruitment or admin fees.

Are You Eligible?

Most employers can take part in the Jobs Guarantee Scheme, provided they can offer a genuine, meaningful job and meet the scheme requirements. This includes: Private sector businesses (SMEs, scale-ups and larger employers), Social enterprises, Charities and not-for-profits.

Employers will be awarded funding from DWP via Foodchain Recruitment as a Delivery Organisation, who will support with matching eligible young people to suitable roles, handle compliance, reporting and wage reimbursement and reimburse the employer for eligible wage and onboarding costs.
