Are you ready to supercharge your career while helping millions discover the benefits of tempeh? 🚀

THE COMPANY: BETTER NATURE

At Better Nature, they're on a mission to make plant-based protein the norm, not the exception. Their story began with four health-conscious food lovers who saw the potential of tempeh to revolutionise diets and improve the planet's health.

Made using fermented soybeans and water, tempeh has been enjoyed as a protein staple in Indonesia for almost 400 years. They saw tempeh as an obvious and delicious solution to so many of the world’s problems and wanted everyone to experience the same benefits of tempeh for their wellbeing and that of the planet.

They're not just selling food; they're selling a movement towards a healthier, more sustainable future. 🌍

COMPANY PURPOSE:

To make eating wholefood, plant-based protein the default, not the alternative, with tempeh.

COMPANY MISSION:

To get 100 million more people eating tempeh by 2030. They plan to do this by making tempeh the go-to source of healthy protein in the UK and abroad.

COMPANY VALUES:

They have five core values that guide all that they do at Better Nature:

Better for all, not a few.

They believe that everyone deserves to feel well, whatever that looks like to them. That’s why Better Nature care about improving the wellbeing of all and protecting the planet that keeps us all healthy. And why they don’t believe that healthy eating should only be afforded to a small subsection of society - it should be for everyone. Within Better Nature, what this looks like is that they always look out for one another and work as a team - they are a highly collaborative bunch all driven by the same purpose.

Honesty is their better policy.

They believe that people have the right to know what’s in their food and its impact on them, others, the planet and animals. That’s why they never pretend to be something that they’re not and they say things as they are. And why they are always compassionately honest, open and transparent in everything they do.

Be better bound.

They believe that they should be the change they want to see in the world. That’s why they don’t wait around for others to make the changes they know desperately need to be made. And why they’re not afraid to be innovative, challenge the status quo, and lead the way in doing what they think is right. They know that they’re not perfect but they learn, adapt and constantly push themselves to be a better version of themselves day-in day-out.

Eat better, feel better.

They believe that food has a huge impact on how we feel - physically and mentally. Which is why they want everyone to eat better. For Better Nature, eating better means predominantly eating a delicious and varied range of plant-based whole foods, but never restricting or guilt-tripping themselves or others. They believe food should be a source of nourishment, joy and connection. They serve to help people live healthier and happier lives by helping them make better, delicious food choices.

Nature knows better.

They believe that there is so much to learn from nature, but we are currently far too disconnected from it. From the foods we eat to the activities we do, this disconnect is harming us and the planet. That's why Better Nature believe in learning from nature, working with it and not against it, using it to support wellbeing, and looking at ways they can make all that it gives us even better (that’s what they believe they’re doing using tempeh and where their name came from, if you weren’t aware!).

COMPANY GROWTH:

2024 is set to be a huge year for Better Nature Tempeh. Since June 2023, they’ve launched nationwide into Tesco (570 stores), ASDA (240 stores) and Lidl (960+ stores), and established themselves as the UK’s leading tempeh brand. Whilst the meat-free market was in decline, they managed to grow 165% making them the UK’s fastest-growing natural meat-free brand. Despite being the new kid on the block, they are already outperforming certain SKUs of established brands such as Vivera, Quorn, Richmond and THIS in their main sales channels. And they have no intention of stopping there!

Off the back of a stellar performance, they secured another round of funding (£1.2M) to fuel their mission to get 100 million people eating tempeh by 2030. And with retailers looking to transform their meat-free categories to become more veg-led and aligned with consumer expectations, they are in a unique and exciting position to lead the widescale adoption of more natural, wholefood plant-based proteins with tempeh!
